-
Who are your trainers? We have a range of trainers who we use, each who have a slightly different background, to ensure they are able to tailor your course as much as possible. These backgrounds range from paramedics, nurses, school house parents, school governors and those working in industry. Each instructor is highly trained to deliver your course and receives regular CPD to ensure they always deliver best practice.
-
What is the ideal group size for workplace training?Often the biggest barrier to offering great training is freeing up (and covering) staff for the time. As such, as Oodles Training, we are happy to run courses for as few as three people. Many of our certificated courses have a maximum of 12 on a course, although we can normally bring in additional instructors if you have a larger group.
-
How do you measure the effectiveness of your trainingPerhaps the best endorsement of the effectiveness of our training is the number of people who come back time after time to work with us, building long-standing trusted relationships. We also always ask for feedback, which we openly share on our website and on google reviews. In addition, many of our courses are certified courses. This means there is an assessment at the end to ensure everyone has the knowledge needed to pass the course. This year, we have 100% of participants getting a pass for certified courses.

Are your courses customisableYes, absolutely! At Oodles Training, we pride ourselves on making our courses as relevant, bespoke, and engaging as possible for you. We love to tailor our training to fit your specific needs. While we strive to customise courses wherever we can, it's worth noting that many of our training courses, including regulated qualifications like Fire Safety, Emergency First Aid at Work, defibrillator training or Paediatric First Aid, have specific guidelines they need to follow for certification. This means some courses have a bit more flexibility for bespoke content than others. If there are particular elements you'd really like us to include in your custom training, or if your environment has unique considerations (for example, specific risks in your workplace that you want to address in a workplace first aid course), please just get in touch before you book. This gives us the best chance to discuss your requirements and ensure we can craft a tailored training solution that's exactly what you're looking for, whether it's first aid training, mental health, fire safety, or another of our valuable courses.

What if someone needs to step out for some of the course? If you need to step out for a quick moment during one of our live or live-virtual training courses, that's usually absolutely fine for something quick However, it's really important to know that many of our training courses, including our popular first aid qualifications (like Emergency First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid), are nationally regulated and come with specific certification requirements. This means there are rules about the minimum training hours you need to complete to get your official certificate. If you miss a significant chunk of the course, even if it's unintentional, it might mean you can't be assessed or awarded the qualification. For example, if a regulated first aid course requires 6 contact hours, missing too much time could stop you from getting your first aid certificate. We want everyone to succeed, so being present for the full course is key! Plus, many of our certificated training courses (whether it's first aid, mental health Fire Safety, or other topics) often have an element of practical assessment and / or a test at the end. These tests cover everything taught during the sessions, so being there for all the content gives you the best chance to succeed If you know you might need to leave early, arrive late, or if something pops up during the training, please just have a quick chat with your instructor. They can let you know how it might affect your qualification and discuss your options. Our main goal at Oodles Training is to help you get the most out of your course and ensure you get any certificates or qualifications you need

Do your instructors have a dbs check? Many of our instructors have a background in education, from school governors, house parents, school nurses and more. We understand that for some organisations, particularly those in education, childcare, healthcare, or where vulnerable adults are involved, having a DBS-checked instructor is essential for safeguarding and peace of mind. If it is important or helpful for you that your training instructor has an up-to-date DBS check (including Enhanced DBS checks for roles involving children or vulnerable adults), please simply let us know at the time of your course booking. We have a wide network of highly qualified instructors, and we'll be happy to make sure we align you with the right one for you. This ensures your bespoke training is delivered not only effectively but also with the utmost confidence and adherence to your safeguarding policies.

Do you offer in-school training sessionsYes, we absolutely do! At Oodles Training, delivering training sessions directly in schools is a key part of what we offer, and we find it provides real benefits for your staff and school environment. Here’s why offering on-site training within your school can be a great option: Convenience for Your Team: Having us come to you means your staff don't have to travel. This can simplify logistics, save time, and often makes it easier to organise professional development for your whole team. Relevance to Your Environment: Training in your actual school setting allows us to make the course content highly relevant. Whether it's first aid for schools, mental health first aid, or safeguarding training, we can discuss scenarios that directly relate to your specific classrooms, playgrounds, and existing school policies. Dedicated & Focused Sessions: When the course is held just for your staff, it creates a comfortable and private space. This can encourage more open discussion about specific challenges or situations unique to your school, helping us to tailor the training more effectively to your needs. Team Cohesion: Training together as a staff group can also foster a shared understanding of important procedures, like emergency protocols specific to your school. We regularly provide customised training for schools, covering everything from EYFS first aid to comprehensive workplace first aid qualifications and vital mental health training for teachers. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss your school's unique requirements, and we can explore how to best bring our expertise directly to you.
-
Are your education courses suitable for all age groupsYes, whilst many of the certificated courses needed for legal compliance are aimed at staff, we run many taster courses for students for as young as year 6. At Oodles Training, we pride ourselves on making our workplace training courses as relevant, bespoke, and engaging as possible for your specific industry or company needs. We love to tailor our corporate training to fit exactly what your organisation needs or wants. While we always aim to customise courses wherever we can, it's worth noting that many of our training courses, including essential regulated first aid qualifications (like Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work), have specific guidelines they need to follow for certification. However, even with regulated courses, we can often incorporate examples and discussions relevant to your specific industry context – whether that's manufacturing, retail, healthcare, office environments, or others. Can our club members pay you directly for their course? There are two ways we can run courses at ‘your venue’, and therefore the answer to this is yes and no... If The club puts on the course. We will then communicate directly with the club. You tell us who is coming (with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 12 people for most courses). Each person over 3 is charged at ‘additional cost per person’ rate on our pricing sheet. We will centrally invoice the club, regardless if you are charging your members to join. This remains the same if you chose to take us up on our offer to up-sell places to others outside of your club The club asks us to run a ‘public’ course at their venue. Here, every individual pays us directly for the course based on the ‘cost per person’ at ‘our venue’ on our pricing sheet. Here, we will deal with all the logistics of booking people in, sharing information and taking payment and therefore, yes, members can pay us directly for their course if you are choosing this option
-
Can I get two qualifications on one course?Yes! Several of our courses can be dual certified meaning you can get two qualifications by completing one course, for example Paediatric First Aid and Emergency First Aid at Work; First Aid at Work and Anaphylaxis Awareness; Sports First Aid and Emergency First Aid at Work and more. This is particularly useful if your needs assessment has highlighted that you need multiple courses e.g. a sports coach or teacher who needs Sports First Aid to cover the likely injuries and scenarios and Emergency First Aid at Work to meet the HSE requirements. Choosing to dual certify can often save you time and money whilst ensuring you have comprehensive cover. For more details on exactly which courses we can dual certify just get in touch.
-
Which first aid course do I need?Which first aid course you choose very much depends on your own assessment. In the UK each business is legally required to complete a needs assessment which will indicate how many first aiders are required and which course would be most suitable for them. There are lots of factors that will affect this decision such as the nature of the work, the location, the number of people at the workplace, the history of accidents as well as things like how remote it is, lone working, how spread out the site is etc. We are happy to help if you need to write a first aid needs assessment - just get in touch. Sometimes there is a governing body or industry group who will advise which first aid course is best for you. In some cases it is possible to dual certify i.e. gain two qualifications in one which can help make sure you meet all of your requirements, see our FAQ ‘Can I get two qualifications on one course?’

What are the differences between Appointed Person and Basic First AidWhile both courses provide essential first aid skills, they are designed for different environments and purposes: Appointed Person in the Workplace Training: This course is specifically tailored for workplace environments where a full Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification isn't a legal requirement, or to support existing qualified First Aiders. It equips individuals with foundational knowledge to manage minor incidents and provide immediate assistance until professional help arrives. The focus is on practical, workplace-relevant scenarios. Basic First Aid Training: This course is aimed at recreational settings where individuals, families, or groups want to learn how to respond to a variety of emergency situations. It covers a broader range of common accidents and illnesses one might encounter outside of a formal work setting. The emphasis is on general preparedness and confidence in diverse, non-workplace emergencies.

Which first aid courses are HSE compliant? Our Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) and First Aid at Work (FAW) courses are both HSE compliant. If you’re not sure whether you need a HSE compliant first aid course please see our FAQ ‘Which first aid course do I need?’

What are the differences between Basic Life Support and Basic First Aid?These two courses serve distinct purposes, though both equip individuals with crucial emergency response skills: Basic Life Support (BLS) Training: This course focuses specifically on essential life support skills, primarily including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use. It is highly suited for industries or professions that require regular, often annual, refresher training in these critical interventions. While fundamental for healthcare professionals like nurses and doctors, its principles are valuable in any setting where immediate life-saving action might be required. Basic First Aid Training: This course is aimed at individuals in recreational settings (e.g., families, community groups, or individuals) who desire a broader understanding of how to respond to a variety of common emergency situations. It covers a wider range of topics beyond just life support, preparing participants to manage various injuries and illnesses they might encounter outside of a professional or high-risk environment.
